Weitz putting 'Game' face on

Chris Weitz has signed on to adapt and produce Neil Strauss' best-selling seduction tome "The Game: Penetrating the Secret Society of Pickup Artists" for Columbia Pictures.

Strauss' first-person story, which originally ran as a Sunday Style article in the New York Times in 2004, chronicled Strauss' transformation from lovelorn loser to lothario. Sony topper Amy Pascal read the comedic article and quickly optioned it as well as the subsequent book, published by ReganBooks in September.

Michael De Luca is producing alongside Weitz and brother Paul, who are producing through their Depth of Field banner. The company's Andrew Miano is executive producing.

Ange Giannetti and Adam Milano are overseeing for the studio, while Josh Bratman is shepherding for De Luca's Columbia-based shingle.

Depth of Field has several projects in development, including "Another Bullshit Night in Suck City" and "Army Geek." The shingle also produced the upcoming "American Dreamz," which Paul Weitz directed.

Chris Weitz, whose writing credits include "About a Boy," for which he was nominated for an Academy Award, is repped by WMA and attorney Alexander Kohner.

Music critic Strauss, who also co-wrote the Jenna Jameson best-seller "How to Make Love Like a Porn Star" and the Motley Crue bio "The Dirt," is repped by WMA and literary agent Ira Silverberg at Donadio & Olson.
