Underwood, Suvari headed to CBS dramas

Pilots land stars

Mena Suvari and Blair Underwood have been tapped to star in two CBS drama pilots, "Orpheus" and "Company Town," respectively.

Additionally, Mitch Rouse landed the lead in CBS' comedy pilot "The Angriest Man in Suburbia," Kiele Sanchez has been tapped as the lead in ABC's comedy pilot "What Happens on a Bus" and Josh Meyers will play the lead in Fox's comedy pilot "That Guy." Also, Matt Letscher has been cast as the male lead opposite Christine Taylor in ABC's comedy pilot "52 Fights," Nick Zano landed the second lead opposite Kevin Brennan in NBC's untitled Jace Richdale comedy pilot, Lori Loughlin joined the cast of the ABC comedy series "In Case of Emergency," Will Patton has been cast in ABC's drama pilot "The Way" and Kerr Smith has come on board Fox's drama pilot "American Crime."

In other pilot castings, Rebecca Gayheart has joined Fox's drama "Vanished," Jonathan LaPaglia and Patricia Wettig have been added to ABC's drama "Brothers & Sisters," Bill Smitrovich and Nestor Serrano have been cast in ABC's drama "A House Divided," Reiley McClendon and Jessica Stroup have joined Fox's drama" Southern Comfort," while Tony Plana has come on board the ABC one-hour "Ugly Betty."

"Orpheus," from CBS Par TV, centers on a young guy (Nick D'Agosto) whose girlfriend (Suvari) is involved in a sophisticated, modern-day cult.

Suvari, who recurred on Alan Ball's "Six Feet Under" on HBO, will next be seen in the features "Brooklyn Rules," "Edmond" and "Factory Girl." She is repped by the Gersh Agency.

In "Company Town," a CBS Par TV-produced pilot about government agents who live in the same Washington neighborhood, Underwood will play a workaholic FBI agent.

Underwood, who co-stars in the feature "Tyler Perry's Madea's Family Reunion," is repped by Paradigm and Thruline.

"Angriest Man," from Sony TV and Pariah, centers on a husband and father (Rouse) who struggles with the annoyances of daily life in suburbia.

Rouse, who most recently recurred on ABC's "According to Jim" and Comedy Central's "Reno 911!" is repped by ICM and 3 Arts Entertainment.

"What Happens on a Bus," from Touchstone TV and Brillstein Grey TV, follows a young news correspondent (Sanchez) on a fictional presidential campaign trail.

Sanchez co-stars on the WB Network's one-hour "Related."

"That Guy," from Regency TV and Montecito Pictures, centers on a guy (Meyers) in his early 30s who realizes that he is getting too old for his partying ways but is not ready to settle down like his friends.

Meyers (Fox's "That '70 Show") is seen in "Date Movie." He is repped by UTA and Principato-Young.

"52 Fights," also from Touchstone and Brillstein Grey, chronicles a couple's (Letscher, Taylor) transition from dating to marriage. Letscher's casting lifts the contingency on the pilot.

Letscher most recently recurred on NBC's "Joey." He is repped by APA and Sanders Armstrong.

The untitled Jace Richdale pilot, from HIP, centers on a New York guy (Brennan) whose younger brother (Zeno) moves in with him while attending NYU.

Also cast in the pilot are David Ratray and Sarah Rafferty.

Zano, who hosts the MTV series "Why Can't I Be You," is repped by ICM and 3 Arts Entertainment.

"In Case of Emergency," from Touchstone, revolves around four friends from high school who unexpectedly reunite.

Loughlin recently co-created and starred in the WB's "Summerland."

"The Way," from Sony TV and CBS Par TV, centers on a powerful New England family that uses witchcraft to further its business enterprises.

Patton was recently seen in TNT's mini "Into the West."

"American Crime," from WBTV and Bruckheimer TV, centers on a group of powerful Los Angeles defense attorneys who specialize in high-profile cases.

For Smith, the casting is in second position to NBC's "E-Ring," also from WBTV and Bruckheimer TV, is repped by Gersh and Thruline.

"Vanished," from 20th TV, chronicles the disappearance of a senator's wife.

Gayheart recently starred in the CBS telefilm "The Christmas Blessing."

"Brothers & Sisters," from Touchstone, is a family soap revolving around adult siblings.

Also joining the cast of the pilot are Sarah Jane Morris, Gage Golightly and Jimmy Pinchak.

Morris will play the wife of one of the siblings, played by Balthazar Getty. Golightly and Pinchak will play kids of another sibling, played by Rachel Griffiths.

Morris is repped by Domain and Bacon-Smith Management.

Golightly and Pinchak are repped by APA and manager Elaine Lively.

"House Divided," from Touchstone, explored the conflict between a Midwest farming community and the U.S. government.

Smitrovich will play an old-school FBI veteran.

The actor, recently seen in the HBO telefilm "Mrs. Harris," will next be seen in the feature "The Code." He is repped by Paul Kohner and Lighthouse Entertainment.

Serrano recurred on Fox's "24" last season.

"Southern Comfort," from 20th TV, centers on the wife (Madeleine Stowe) of a Southern mobster who takes over the business when her husband goes to prison.

McClendon will play Stowe's oldest son. Stroup will play the role of Lindy. McClendon ("Buffalo Dreams") is repped by Innovative Artists and Industry Entertainment. Stroup is repped by Osbrink and Management 360.

"Ugly Betty," from Touchstone, centers on an unattractive young woman (America Ferrera) who works at a fashion magazine. Plana will play her father.

Plana is repped by APA and manager Tracy Quinn.

In other pilot casting news, James Tupper has joined the cast of ABC's "Men in Trees" and Indira Varma has come on board CBS' untitled Peter Ocko drama.

Tupper is repped by the Chasin Agency and manager Melanie Sharp.
