Alexander inks deal with NBC Uni

Alexander, NBC Uni ink deal

Nellie Andreeva
Emmy-winning "Alias" and "Lost" producer Jesse Alexander has inked a two-year overall deal with NBC Universal Television Studio.

Under the seven-figure pact, Alexander is set to join an NBC Uni TV series while also developing new projects.

NBC Uni TV senior vp drama and cable programming Laura Lancaster said she and her team had admired Alexander's work for years.

"We were so impressed by his passion, imagination and ideas, we couldn't wait to be in business with him," she said. "He is such a versatile and energetic force, we feel like we have a lot of shows coming up that would be perfect for him."

Coming off a five-year stint on J.J. Abrams' ABC/Touchstine TV dramas "Alias" and "Lost," Alexander was looking for his next project by reading pilot scripts when he came across Tim Kring's teleplay for the two-hour NBC pilot "Heroes," about a group of seemingly everyday people who discover they have superpowers.

"The script was fantastic," Alexander said. "I liked Tim's vision of the world he created, and I liked the writing."

Alexander also was eager to work with Kring. On his drama series for NBC "Crossing Jordan," Kring mentored Damon Lindelof who went on to co-create and executive produce "Lost."

"It's a very special situation," Alexander said. "I feel it was meant to be."

Excited about the prospect of working on "Heroes," Alexander met with the executives at NBC Uni TV, the studio which produces the project.

"We hit it off creatively," Alexander said of his meetings with NBC Uni TV president Angela Bromstad, Lancaster and drama director Lauren Stein. "I was inspired of how supportive they were of Tim and of his vision of what the show should be."

If "Heroes" goes to series, Alexander would serve as co-executive producer.

Alexander had been with "Alias" since the show's beginning, rising to executive producer this season.

Last season, he was a co-executive producer on "Lost," helping to launch the hit series. He shared a best drama series Emmy with the rest of the show's producing team.

Alexander is repped by Chris Silbermann at BWCS and attorney Robert Lange.
