Jason Bateman has joined the cast of Universal Pictures' thriller "The Kingdom."
Jamie Foxx, Chris Cooper and Jennifer Garner already have boarded the Peter Berg-helmed film, being written by Matthew Michael Carnahan.
The film is set following a deadly bombing attack that targeted Americans working in a Middle Eastern country. In response, the U.S. government sends in an elite team of counterterrorism investigators to try and find those responsible.
Michael Mann will produce "Kingdom" via his Forward Pass shingle alongside Scott Stuber. Mary Parent will executive produce along with Film 44's John Cameron and Sarah Aubrey.
Universal's Jon Gordon and Dylan Clark are shepherding the project for the studio, which is eyeing a June start date.
Bateman, whose credits include "Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story," "Starsky & Hutch" and the critically acclaimed TV series "Arrested Development," next appears in Universal's romantic comedy "The Break-Up." He is shooting Mandate Pictures' "Mr. Magorium's Wonder Emporium" and recently wrapped "Fast Track" for director Jesse Peretz.
He is repped by UTA, 3 Arts Management and attorney Tom Hoberman.
