NEW YORK -- Aaron Stanford and Kristen Stewart have been cast in actress Mary Stuart Masterson's feature directorial debut, "The Cake Eaters," co-starring screenwriter Jayce Bartok.

The film tells the story of Guy (Bartok), who returns to his small hometown after pursuing his dreams in the city. Stanford will play Beagle, his oddball brother who falls for a gravely ill girl named Georgia (Stewart).

"I couldn't think of two better-suited young actors than Aaron and Kristen to take on Jayce's unforgettable characters," said 57th & Irving Prods. president Elisa Pugliese, who is producing the project with Masterson and the 7th Floor's Jesse Scolaro, Allen Bain and Darren Goldberg.

Stanford, who next appears in "X-Men: The Last Stand," is repped by Endeavor, Lainie Stolhanske of Management 360 and attorney James Adams of Schreck Rose Dapello & Adams. Stewart, who most recently appeared in "Zathura," is repped by the Gersh Agency and attorney Joel McKuin of Colden, McKuin & Frankel.
