'Love' grows with Kinnear
'Feast' for Kinnear
May 22, 2006
Greg Kinnear has been cast to star opposite Morgan Freeman in the drama "The Feast of Love" for Lakeshore Entertainment.
Based on a Charles Baxter novel, the film revolves around a community of friends in Oregon and is described as an exploration of the magical, mysterious and sometimes painful incarnations of love.
Kinnear will play Bradley Thomas, an all-around nice guy who owns a coffee shop and paints on the side. Unfortunately, Thomas can't catch a break with his love life, losing his first wife to a lesbian and a second wife to another man. His character shares a unique bond with Freeman's character, philosophy professor Harry Scott.
Oscar-winning helmer Robert Benton ("Kramer vs. Kramer") recently signed on to direct the film, scheduled to begin shooting in August in Portland. Allison Burnett penned the screenplay.
Lakeshore's Gary Lucchesi is producing in association with Revelations Entertainment. Lakeshore International is handling the international sales at this month's Festival de Cannes, where Kinnear's "Fast Food Nation," directed by Richard Linklater, premiered Friday.
Freeman and Kinnear worked together in Neil LaBute's "Nurse Betty." Kinnear will next be seen in the Sundance Film Festival hit "Little Miss Sunshine," which opens July 26 via Fox Searchlight Pictures.
Kinnear is represented by CAA.
