Focus finds Muccino for 'Little Game'
Happy 'Consequence'
July 18, 2006
Gabriele Muccino, the Italian director who is making his English directorial debut with the fall's Will Smith drama "The Pursuit of Happy-ness," has signed on for "A Little Game Without Consequence" for Focus Features.
The movie will be based on the French play by Gerard Sibleyras. It follows a seemingly perfect couple who pretend to break up, only to realize that their friends never liked them as couple to begin with. The play was adapted into a French movie in 2004.
Allan Loeb, who penned "Things We Lost in the Fire," wrote the English-language adaptation.
French writer-director-actor Alain Chabat and Stephanie Danan are producing through their L.A.-based banner WAM. Muccino's producing partner Domenico Procacci is also on board as a producer.
Muccino wrote and directed the award-winning "L'Ultimo bacio," which was adapted into the upcoming English-language Zach Braff drama "The Last Kiss." He is repped by CAA.
