New girls for 'Gilmore' creator
Back to comedy roots
Aug 2, 2006
"Gilmore Girls" creator Amy Sherman-Palladino is returning to her half-hour comedy roots with a new project for Fox Broadcasting Co. The untitled multicamera comedy, which has received a put pilot commitment from the network, revolves around two estranged sisters who reunite after one of them agrees to carry the other's baby. Sherman-Palladino will write, executive produce and direct the pilot, which is yet to be set up at a studio. Sherman-Palladino's six-year tenure as executive producer/co-showrunner on the critically praised WB Network dramedy "Gilmore Girls" came to an end in April when she and her husband, "Gilmore" executive producer/co-showrunner Daniel Palladino, exited the series after failing to agree on a new deal with the show's producer Warner Bros. TV (HR 4/21). Sherman-Palladino, whose credits also include the comedies "Roseanne" and "Veronica's Closet," is repped by CAA and attorney Jeanne Newman of Hansen Jacobson.
