'Stars' still shining for ABC on Wed.

ABC seeing 'Stars'

NEW YORK -- "Dancing With the Stars" pulled out another win Wednesday with a results show that knocked out MSNBC host Tucker Carlson, but Matt Lauer's interview with disgraced teacher Debra LaFave on "Dateline NBC" nearly toppled it in the adults 18-49 demographic.

"Dancing" was tops in key measures for the night in broadcast primetime, averaging 16.3 million viewers and a 4.1 rating/13 share in the adults 18-49 demographic, according to Nielsen Media Research.

It easily won the hour against the finale of CBS' "Rock Star: Supernova" (7 million, 3.1/9), in which Canadian Lukas Rossi rocked to victory in the singing competition; Fox's "Bones" (8.4 million, 2.8/9); and the first half of "Dateline: To Catch a Predator" (9 million, 3.3/9). But the ratings turned toward NBC at 9 p.m. for the much-hyped exclusive interview with the teacher who had sex with a 14-year-old student. More than 10.7 million viewers tuned in for the program, which delivered a 3.9/11 in the demo in the 9 p.m. hour.

That put stress on "Justice" (7.5 million, 2.5/7) as well as a repeat of the CBS drama "Criminal Minds" (9 million, 2.5/7) and the sneak peeks of ABC's fall programming (7.3 million, 2.4/7).

The 10 p.m. hour belonged to a repeat of "CSI: NY," which averaged 10 million viewers and a 2.8/8, ahead of NBC's "Law & Order" (8.9 million, 2.8/8) and the Jimmy Kimmel special on ABC (4.4 million, 1.7/5).

"Dateline" put NBC over the top for the night in adults 18-49 (3.1/9); ABC was No. 1 in viewers (9.4 million).
