ABC seeks 'Guidance'

Nellie Andreeva
Ben Silverman, executive producer of ABC's hot prospect "Ugly Betty," has teamed with ABC for another project, the single-camera comedy "Parental Guidance."

The network has given a put pilot commitment to the half-hour project, to be written by Marc Abrams and Michael Benson.

"Guidance," which will be executive produced by Silverman, Abrams and Benson, revolves around adult parents who live life not too differently from when they were 25 and explores how that affects their kids.

Talks are under way with studios to come on board and produce the comedy with Silverman's Reveille.

"Guidance" stems from a first-look deal Abrams and Benson recently inked with Reveille through their newly launched Catapult Llc. (HR 9/18).

In addition to "Ugly Betty," which got off to a strong start Thursday, Reveille's primetime slate includes NBC's Emmy-winning comedy "The Office" and the reality series "The Biggest Loser," also for NBC.

Abrams and Benson most recently worked as co-executive producers on HBO's "Entourage."
