NEW YORK -- Sissy Spacek, Troy Garity and musician Dave Matthews are set to star in Perry Moore and Hunter Hill's family drama "Lake City."
Spacek and Garity will play a mother and son who have been estranged after a tragedy. They reunite under dire circumstances in order to save their home. Matthews, who will be credited in the film as David Matthews, will play the villain.
"With Sissy, we have a proven film icon who brings incredible talent to the material," said Hill, who co-wrote and is co-directing the project with Moore. "It's so rare that you get your No. 1 choice in a film. We wrote the part for her."
Principal photography begins Monday in Virginia, where Spacek lives with her husband, production designer/director Jack Fisk.
"Lake" is produced by Mark Johnson ("The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe"), Weiman Seid (principal of the entertainment firm Fat Dot), Mike Ryan and Sally Pope.
Spacek's credits include her Oscar-winning role as Loretta Lynn in "Coal Miner's Daughter," five additional Academy Award nominations and three Golden Globe Awards. She just wrapped production on the comedy "Hot Rod."
Garity's credits include "Soldier's Girl," "After the Sunset" and the "Barbershop" movies. Matthews starred in the family films "Where the Red Fern Grows" and "Because of Winn-Dixie."
Moore was executive producer on "Narnia." Moore and Hill are making their feature directorial debuts with "Lake."
Spacek and Garity are repped by CAA. Matthews is repped by IFA Talent Agency.
