Dis' 'Big Trouble' set for April after Sept. 11 delay

Disney has rescheduled the Tim Allen ensemble comedy "Big Trouble" for release April 5. The Barry Sonnenfeld-directed film was one of several releases rescheduled in the wake of the events of Sept. 11.

"Trouble" was originally set to bow Sept. 21. The movie is a "Get Shorty"-esque caper that involves terrorists and a bomb secreted on a plane. Quickly after the terrorist attacks Sept. 11, Disney said: "Due to the national tragedy that has occurred, Touchstone Pictures has postponed the release date of its comedy 'Big Trouble.' Our thoughts and prayers are with those affected by this terrible tragedy." The studio took a fourth-quarter write-off related to the postponement.

Disney also pushed back its planned December release of the Anthony Hopkins-Chris Rock film "Bad Company." That film, produced by Jerry Bruckheimer and directed by Joel Schumacher, also involves terrorists. It has yet to be rescheduled.

Warner Bros. announced a new date of Feb. 8 for the release of the Arnold Schwarzenegger film "Collateral Damage." That film stars Schwarzenegger as a man who avenges the death of his wife and daughter at the hands of terrorists.

Disney made no reference in its announcement to the fact that "Big Trouble" was rescheduled post-Sept. 11. The studio simply announced the film's release date and listed its producers, writers and cast. Zooey Deschanel, Omar Epps and Dennis Farina are among Allen's co-stars in the movie.
