Fox makes last-minute switch for 'The Transporter' movie
SepT 6, 2002
Eight days before its planned debut, the action-adventure film "The Transporter" was shifted Friday to a release date more than a month away. The film, about a high-class courier engaged in gunplay and intrigue, is now set to appear in theaters Oct. 11, according to 20th Century Fox. The unusually late change puts the film in competition with the submarine horror film "Below," the romance "Brown Sugar," the crime adventure "Knockaround Guys," Disney's fantasy story "Tuck Everlasting" and the animated "Pokemon 4Ever." The Sept. 13 weekend now will see openers only for the urban comedy "Barbershop" and the Tom Green farce "Stealing Harvard." Studio executives said "The Transporter," starring British actor Jason Statham, was delayed so marketers would have more time to build awareness of the film.
