Favreau in 'School'
SepT 29, 2003
Multihyphenate Jon Favreau is in negotiations to direct Drew Barrymore in the comedy "Date School" for DreamWorks Pictures. Favreau would replace Tim Story, who was attached to helm before stepping off to direct 20th Century Fox's "Taxi," which is lensing. "Date School" centers on a woman (Barrymore) who is determined to find love but is lousy at dating. She then turns to a dating instructor for help. That role has yet to be cast. Penned by Abby Cohn and Mark Silverstein, the project is being produced by Red Hour Films' Ben Stiller and Stuart Cornfeld along with Firm Films' Beau Flynn. Nancy Juvonen, Barrymore's partner at Flower Films, will also produce. At the studio, the project is being shepherded by exec Adam Goodman. Favreau is repped by Endeavor. He is in London filming a supporting role in Working Title Films' tennis romantic comedy "Wimbledon" alongside Kirsten Dunst and Paul Bettany. His most recent directorial effort, the Will Ferrell starrer "Elf," is due for release in November from New Line Cinema.
