Wood, Hunnam join 'Hooligans'

Pair of 'Hooligans'

Chris Gardner
Elijah Wood and Charlie Hunnam have been tapped to star in the indie "Hooligans" for Odd Lot Entertainment. The project is due to start shooting in April with Lexi Alexander at the helm.

The story centers on a Harvard undergraduate (Wood) who moves to London after he is wrongfully expelled from the Ivy League school. Once there, he meets up with a young man named Pete (Hunnam), who introduces him to the violent underworld of soccer hooliganism.

Alexander teamed with author-journalist Dougie Brimson to develop the original story for the project, and the duo then took it to scribe Josh Shelov to flesh it out to a full screenplay. After his draft, Alexander and Brimson did a rewrite.

Odd Lot Capital, the private equity fund of Odd Lot Entertainment, is financing "Hooligans," marking the company's first fully financed project. Odd Lot's Gigi Pritzker, Deborah Del Prete and Patrick Aluise are producing. Senator International is handling worldwide sales on Odd Lot's behalf.

Wood is repped by WMA and attorney Craig Emanuel. In December, he reprises his role as Frodo Baggins in the third and final installment of the "Lord of the Rings" trilogy for New Line Cinema, "The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King." He then stars in Focus Features' "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind" next year.

Hunnam next appears in Miramax Films' "Cold Mountain" in December. His other credits include "Nicholas Nickleby" and "Abandon." He is repped by WMA and attorney David Weber at Offer, Weber & Dern.

Alexander is repped by CAA and Brillstein-Grey's Jai Khanna.
