What is THR East?
The Hollywood Reporter East is a full-color multipage version of the print daily sent electronically every day to subscribers east of the Mississippi. After Gotham and the East Coast papers have been put to bed, The Hollywood Reporter East editors are still at work, guaranteeing you receive the freshest entertainment news each business day. Each day's issue contains news, reviews and analysis.

What do I need to get THR East?
A PC or Macintosh with Web browser and e-mail software installed. You'll also need the Adobe Acrobat Reader. Download the free Acrobat Reader application.

How does THR East work?
Each business morning you will receive THR East as an Acrobat PDF document via e-mail attachment. You can either open it directly from within your e-mail program, or download the file and open it separately. You can read it on screen or print it out for office distribution. Any office laserwriter will produce excellent results. If you have a color printer you can print THR East as it was designed, in color. You can also save the THR East files for later review.

How much does THR East cost?
THR East is available free of charge.

How do I use the controls?
The most commonly used functions in Acrobat Reader are presented as icons just under the menu row. Here are the ones you will use most when reading THR East:

• Click the folder icon to save the Acrobat document on your computer.
• Click the printer icon to print your document. On a black-and-white printer, a typical day's edition should take about 2 minutes to print; printing in color will take a little longer.
• THR East will display one page at a time. Use the arrow controls to page backward and forward through the document.
• Use the three page icon buttons to control how big THR East displays on your screen. (These controls do not affect how THR East prints.) From left to right, the buttons will display THR East at 100% actual size, as the whole page in whatever size your computer window is set at, and at the full width of your computer monitor.

Troubleshooting
Most problems can be solved by downloading and installing the latest version of Acrobat Reader for your operating system.

My company does not allow me to open e-mail attachments. How can I get THR East?
You can download the day's edition directly from The Hollywood Reporter by clicking on the link we provide you with each day's THR East e-mail.

When I click on the attachment, my computer says it doesn't know how to handle that kind of document.
Assuming you have Acrobat Reader installed, you just need to tell the computer how you want it to handle incoming PDF files. You should only have to do this once. You can choose to open THR East directly or save the file to your computer. If you continue to have problems, try reinstalling Acrobat Reader.

When I print out THR East the top/bottom gets cut off.
When you select Print, click the "Fit to Page" option.

General printer performance issues
We recommend that you print THR East on laserwriters at 600dpi; higher resolutions are not necessary but can increase print time. Printing at lower resolutions will be faster. Turn off any "photo" or "photo-quality" mode your printer may use. This mode is not necessary with THR East but can increase print time.
