Where the Wild Things Are
Wish I could get my money back!
By far one of the worst movies my family and I have ever seen in a long time. After a wonderful meal with my family, we decided to see this movie which unfortunately ruined our digestion. For those who didn't read the book, in a nutshell, the movies message is if you are a bratty kid, you can bite your Mom and escape to your own world. And when you get back, your Mom will have chocolate cake waiting form you. I would not recommend this movie to anyone.

Where the Wild Things Are
Where the wild things are...what?
You will first relize that this was filmed by a five year old that could not keep the camera steady. Then, you will see that the movie (excuse me, film) could have been taken from Tom Hanks mental health support group meeting. This movie had nothing to do with the original idea of Maurice Sendak. I was disgusted with the makers of this childhood story and walked out of the theatre after the first 15 minutes. Luckily I got my money back so I could ponder what I did see over a cup of starbocks coffee. Next time a childhhod favorite comes out...I will just wait for the video.

Where the Wild Things Are
Haunting and Evocative
This film is one of the most beautiful films that I have ever seen. It is profound in its simplicity. The Wild Things, the creatures, are goregoues works of arts and metaphors for people who surround us in our lives. The pacing, the surprises, the fun, the danger, the drama - it all feels like a childhood summer complete with massive expectations, delightful payoffs, and childish let downs. It is a brilliant film that feels just right, all the way through each scene. I have not been this engaged in a movie in a long time. Pure art.

Where the Wild Things Are
This movie has no lesson
I have never gone to a movies that was designed for youth with quite so many dysfunctional people in it....and yes even the wild things were dysfunctional. Nothing was resolved in the book except perhaps that the kid realized he should probably not bite his mom. It was a dark, dreary movie. One kept hoping that some great insight would occur. I have been a child psychologist for 10 years and had a tough time understanding the full message or being able to accuratly express what they wanted to convey. Do not waste your time unless you just enjoy a bunch of wild things running around and causing a rukus.

Fame
Best Movie Ever
I laughed, i cried, i lived. The new fame movie was fantastic. The charecters were relatable and so so real. From the second the came on screen i cared for these people like they were my best friends. I was so angry when the began stuffing up their lifes. Now maybe i'm just a very empathetic person but i lived with these charecters i loved with them, i cried with them. These charecters seemed so real to me, most of that was the work of the fantastic actors and actresses that were brought to our attention during this film. Notable breakthrough performances were that of Naturi Naughton as Denise, Kay Panabaker as Jenny, Asher Book as Marco and Collins Pennie. I thought that these performances were spectacular and the extent of charecter devlopment (in a movie that was probably to short for all of it's amazing charecters) was breath taking. i know i that im in the minority but i LOVED fame, however i am young and aslo a performer so maybe some of you have lost the feeling that is still strong in me. Espesically if you have go see the film, Remember the feelings, Remember the love and heartbreak but most importantly ........ REMEMBER MY NAME!

Where the Wild Things Are
Rich, subtle, moving
Spike Jonze and his crew have spent over four years creating "Where The Wild Things Are" and it has paid off with a subtle, deeply moving portrait of what it feels like to be a kid. While the story is fairly simple, the movie is not........Max is a boy who is feeling angry and sad and neglected by his mom, his sister and friends....when he gets to the island with the wild things and is anointed king, they expect him to make everything better and that they will all get along....like a "perfect" family. Max tries to create peace (and fun) for his new friends and he gains insight into how complex people and relationships with those you love are. There is love and fear and anger and an underlying sense of menace on the island. Jonze convincingly pulls off the energy of an 8 year old, wild times with the wild things, and best of all, several moving scenes with interactions between the characters that were so unexpectedly full of complex emotions and at the same time a subtle impact. The acting is very good. The monsters are charismatic and beautifully drawn. The sets are detailed and magical. The music meshes with what's going on. It was unexpected in many ways....all good. I highly recommend this movie.
