'American Idol's' Phillip Phillips Meets Olympic Gold Medalist Aly Raisman (Photo)
After the season 11 victor's song "Home" became the soundtrack to NBC's women's gymnastics coverage, a meeting of America's two winners was only natural.
Olympic gymnast and Massachusetts native Aly Raisman has been making the rounds in and around Boston ever since the gold medalist returned from the London games.
After appearances in New York City and scores of interviews with local outlets and beyond, the Needham resident returned to New England where she took in some music on Saturday morning. On the bill: another winner -- American Idol season 11 victor Phillip Phillips.

Performing his breakaway hit “Home,” which served as the soundtrack to the Olympics’ women's gymnastics competition, for listeners of Boston radio statio Mix 104.1 at the Revere Hotel-Boston Common’s Emerald Lounge, it was a true homecoming moment for Raisman, who has spent the last year tirelessly training seven days a week for her Olympic showing.
“This is the first time I’ve really had a break,” she told Boston.com. “To relax and do nothing was really nice.”

And short-lived. Raisman has been furiously trying to keep up with a schedule that has her meeting sports stars like the New England Patriots, gymanstics fans and, yes, Idols. Said Phillips in a tweet: “Met @Aly_Raisman this morning and she's a lovely person. Very sweet.”
Next on Raisman’s to-do list? A guest stint on E!’s Fashion Police (she flies to Los Angeles on Wednesday), then it’s back to Boston in time for a parade in her honor on Sunday afternoon.
