Two finalists will be sent home during the live results show tonight.
After the Top 11 finalists performed the songs of Sir Elton John on Fox’s American Idol Wednesday, more than 55 million votes were cast, setting a new voting record for this early in the competition. The stakes heat up tonight, as two finalists will be sent home during the live results show. One of them could likely be Casey Abrams, who was saved from elimination last week by judges after he received the fewest of America’s votes. The judges’ save is not an option tonight. Meanwhile, season three champ Fantasia Barrino will return to the show Thursday to belt out her latest hit, “Collard Greens & Cornbread.” Will.i.am of The Black Eyed Peas and Jamie Foxx also will take to the Idol stage to debut their collaboration, “Hot Wings (I Wanna Party),” an original song written for the highly anticipated animated feature film Rio.
