Adam Lambert to Host 'VH1 Divas'
Fellow Idol Jordin Sparks also will take part in the Dec. 16 event, along with Ciara, Miley Cyrus, Demi Lovato and Kelly Rowland.
Less than two weeks before New Year's Eve, Adam Lambert will help drop the proverbial disco ball as the American Idol alum is set to host VH1 Divas, the network said Thursday.
The show, which will be broadcast live Dec. 16, will feature a fellow Idol, season six winner Jordin Sparks, along with Ciara, Miley Cyrus, Demi Lovato and Kelly Rowland. Proceeds from the event will benefit 's VH1's Save the Music Foundation.
A tribute to late divas Whitney Houston and Donna Summer will highlight the evening's events, said Lee Rolontz, executive vp original music production and development at VH1 and VH1 Classic.
“The world has truly been inspired by dance music, and what better way for VH1 to pay tribute than by honoring legends Whitney Houston and Donna Summer through song and dance," he said.
Lambert is more than ready for his turn in the spotlight and promises a fantastic night, which will reunite the season eight standout with another Idol alum, former bandleader Ricky Minor. Minor is serving as executive producer of the show, along with Jesse Ignanovic for Den of Thieves.
“I'm so thrilled to be hosting VH1 Divas this year," Lambert said. "I have a feeling it's going to be the most fabulous concert of the year! And live! Get ready for some amazing performances, killer fashion and fierce divas!"
