Chris Daughtry Releases New Track on iTunes; Announces Album Title
"Waiting For Superman" is the lead single off the band's forthcoming release, "Baptized."
The long-awaited new track from Chris Daughtry and his band debuted on iTunes today.
The mid-tempo rocker, “Waiting For Superman,” mixes in elements of EDM and serves as a taste of Daughtry's forthcoming album. The song is co-written by Sam Hollander and Martin Johnson, the team behind Karmin's "Acapella." Johnson also produced the single.
The 33-year-old comic book fan evokes imagery of a lonely girl waiting for her own Superman, who is “at the laundromat washing his cape." In the chorus, Daughtry drives the point home: “She’s dancing with strangers/falling apart/waiting for Superman/to pick her up in his arms.” The American Idol season five alum also revealed the title of his band's next album -- Baptized -- in a Twitter post on Tuesday.
“In light of our new musical direction, it feels like a 'rebirth' of our band in many ways. Therefore, the new album is officially titled ... BAPTIZED,” he wrote.
The group has been active on social media lately, launching a campaign with Hyperactivate last week to release the single artwork and track.
