'The Voice' Nabs 'American Idol' Champ Kelly Clarkson as Guest Mentor (Report)
The 29-year-old singer will reportedly appear on the NBC singing competition in an episode airing in March or April.
All’s fair in love and reality competitions. Apparently, just because Kelly Clarkson is the inaugural winner of Fox’s American Idol doesn’t mean she’s going to pass up an opportunity with another hit reality singing competition.

According to The New York Post’s sources close to the show, Clarkson will be joining NBC’s The Voice as coach Blake Shelton’s guest mentor in an episode airing in March or April.
The two singers are both managed by Reba McIntyre’s husband Narvel Blackstock’s company, Starstruck Entertainment. McIntyre previously appeared as a guest mentor for Shelton on the first season.
Clarkson hasn’t exactly been coy about her appreciation for the NBC show. “The thing I love about The Voice is that they’re more mentors — they’re not judges,” the singer said in September. “I would never really want to be a judge, just because I don’t want to break people’s hearts.”

An NBC spokesperson did not confirm the news, but tells THR, "We will announce who the advisers are very soon." NBC is holding a session for The Voice on Friday at the Winter TCA Press Tour and may make the official announcement then.
Clarkson recently made headlines when she publicly endorsed republican presidential candidate Ron Paul. And while her latest album, Stronger, is climbing the Billboard charts, she did see a drop in sales since Jan. 1. She’s also set to perform on Saturday Night Live this weekend. Clarkson also performed on Fox's The X Factor in November.
The Voice returns Sunday, Feb. 5 after the Super Bowl and then returns to its regular slot, Mondays at 8 p.m. on NBC. And American Idol returns for Seaon 11 on Wednesday, Jan. 18 to Fox.
