Phillip Phillips Earns Gold, Will Appear on 'American Idol'
The reigning "Idol" winner starts 2013 strong with a Gold record and media blitz next week.
American Idol winner Phillip Phillips will jump start season 12 with huge news: his CD, The World From the Side of The Moon, has just gone gold.
The World From the Side of the Moon sold 63,000 copies last week, according to Nielsen SoundScan. The rise in sales is attributed to a discounted price on iTunes.
The Leesburg, Georgia, singer/songwriter will celebrate the milestone with a full on media campaign supporting his new single, "Gone, Gone, Gone," all day next Wednesday with appearances on FOX, NBC and ABC.
The season 11 champ will appear on Jimmy Kimmel Live and Ellen DeGeneres' daytime talk show, Ellen. He will also make a triumphant return to Idol, the show that catapulted him to fame in 2012.
