The nominees for screenwriting software Final Draft's 11th annual Screenwriters Choice Awards were announced on Friday. Nominations were announced in four categories: best original screenplay, best adapted screenplay, best TV drama and best TV comedy. Each category has three nominees.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens earned a surprising nomination for best adapted screenplay. The hit sequel has been nominated for five Oscars but has yet to receive an awards nomination or win for its screenplay, by Lawrence Kasdan, J.J. Abrams and Michael Arndt based on characters by George Lucas.

The awards are voted on by registered users of Final Draft, considered the entertainment industry standard for screenwriting software. Winners will be announced at a Feb. 11 awards ceremony at the Paramount Theatre on the Paramount Pictures Studios lot. The ceremony will be hosted by Thomas Lennon and Robert Ben Garant. Taxi Driver and Raging Bull scribe Paul Schrader was previously announced as this year's Hall of Fame award recipient.
