Welcome to The Bachelorette version of The Hollywood Reporter's Power Rankings. Each week, THR's Bachelor experts will be tuning in to the romantic connections and dramatic shenanigans taking place on season 12 of the long-running ABC franchise. In an effort to cater to viewers who opt out of show spoilers, these rankings are based on opinions and observations week-by-week.

The Bachelorette is all about Chad.

After emerging as the early season villain, Chad solidified his place as the season outcast on Monday's explosive episode: Over the tense two hours, the former marine threatened his housemates — even ripping another's shirt and grabbing his neck — and escalated the show to levels of aggression rarely seen on the long-running ABC series.

After verbally sparring with Alex, a fellow marine, on last week's episode, Chad set his sights on Evan. During a group challenge with nearly half of the contestants, the men were tasked with telling embarrassing sex stories in front of a live audience, and when Evan made Chad and claims about his steroid use the butt of his jokes, Chad flew off the handle. After ripping Evan's shirt as he passed him, punching a door and giving himself bloody knuckles, Chad then grabbed Evan at the neck and threatened: "You’re going to f—ing die if you don’t chill out."

Chad's behavior had the housemates so on edge, a security guard was placed at the mansion — a first for the series — and Evan called in host Chris Harrison to fill him in on Chad's actions. Harrison stops short of evicting Chad, but tells him that he must make things right. Chad denies any use of steroids and agrees, but as he walks back to the house, he continues to launch verbal threats: “I'm gonna cut everyone here's legs off and arms off and there's just gonna be torsos and then I'm gonna throw them in the pool. I’m gonna f— up this entire damn thing.”

That's where the episode ends, and previews for tomorrow night's special Tuesday episode show the disastrous results of a house pool party, with several confrontations between the men and Chad, and JoJo left in tears.

Given the show's rules around acts of violence (the eligibility requirements exclude anyone with a history of "acts involving moral turpitude or violence"), it's unlikely that Chad will be sticking around much longer. With so much of the show being focused around him, however, tonight's Power Rankings take into account the mens' up-to-date connections with JoJo, as well as what the drama revealed about each of their personalities. With no rose ceremony, here's how the men shake out compared to last week's THR Power Rankings.

Check back Tuesday for the weekly live blog and updated rankings, and share your comments on Twitter using the #THRose hashtag.

  1. 1
    26

Chase, 27, medical sales rep from Highlands Ranch, CO

    Down from last night.

    Courtesy of ABC

Chase used up his one-on-one time last night, but it's still paying off. When asked by the guest-starring QB who her top picks are, Chase was the first name off JoJo's roster. The Bachelorette told the football star that Chase shot to the top of the ranks after surprising her during their steamy session of Tantric hot yoga. Relive their date here.

  2. 2
    26

Jordan, 27, former pro quarterback, Chico, CA

    Up from last week.

    Courtesy of ABC

Jordan slid slightly down the ladder last week after displaying some immature behavior when confronting Chad, but this week, Jordan was seen taking a different approach. Remaining cool as a cucumber when confronted by Chad and his low-blow insults ("You're a 27-year-old failed football player. You've done nothing with your life other than throw a piece of leather," Chad said in front of the entire group), the former quarterback seemed to realize that Chad's aggression issues weren't as childish as he initially thought, and decided to be the bigger man. It's obvious from the first episode that Jordan and JoJo have a strong connection, and Jordan was the first shoulder she leaned on after the disastrous group date. "I'm so open and excited about you," JoJo told him, prompting Jordan to tell her how attracted he is to her and how much he values the word "love."

  3. 3
    26

James Taylor, 29, singer-songwriter from Katy, TX

    Steady from last week.

    Courtesy of ABC

James has continually impressed JoJo with his music, making him a fitting one-on-one date of swing-dancing lessons. Calling him an "old soul," JoJo felt he was perfect for the date but admitted that the initial spark wasn't there, questioning whether or not they could move beyond the friend zone. But once again the country singer tapped into her emotions with an original song and sealed the night with a kiss, a rose and JoJo talking about butterflies: "He makes me feel a way that I'm not used to feeling." James earns points for opening up about having confidence issues all of his life, but, given JoJo’s penchant for bad boys, it feels like she might ultimately be more attracted to being told that she’s beautiful, instead of the other way around.

  4. 4
    26

Derek, 29, commercial banker from Ft. Lauderdale, FL

    Down from last week.

    Courtesy of ABC

Derek left off on a great note after his one-on-one date with JoJo last week, where he committed to letting his guard down. This week, Derek expressed sweet frustrations over being left off the group-date card, lamenting not being able to spend more time with JoJo and calling out Chad when he nearly gave up his invite. "My next chance is the night of the cocktail hour and I would take [any] opportunity," he said. He also earns extra points for being Chad's bunkmate and having to sleep with a security guard watching over their room.

  5. 5
    26

Luke, 31, war veteran from Burnet, TX

    Down from last week.

    Courtesy of ABC

After coming thisclose to winning last week's burning building challenge, country boy Luke once again failed to get any time alone with JoJo. As he anxiously awaited the final one-on-one date card, the fellow Texan, who has shown his sweet Southern values and big heart on more than one occasion, admitted: “If I don't get this date card I’m gonna go cry in a corner by myself." Later, after hearing about what went down with Chad during the group date, Luke told the camera "we had to do something about this guy before it got out of hand," referencing the house security guard and stepping up to protect the people around him.

  6. 6
    26

Grant, 28, firefighter from San Francisco, CA

    Down from last week.

    Courtesy of ABC

Grant won points this week for bravely stepping in to put one of the many Chad fires out. The season villain interrupted JoJo while she was explaining her decision to give Evan the group date rose (more on that below), saying about the erectile dysfunction specialist: “Is this real? … You’re seriously vibeing this guy?” The firefighter clearly had enough and called Chad out for his childish comments, simultaneously breaking up what could have been another aggressive altercation with the vein-popping Chad. Grant also got big laughs from JoJo when he opened the stand-up group challenge with a tale from when he lost his virginity.

  7. 7
    26

Evan, 33, erectile dysfunction specialist from Nashville, TN

    Up from last week.

    Courtesy of ABC

A round of applause goes out for our Evan, as the contestant proved this week that you can never underestimate an erectile dysfunction specialist. After Chad’s aggression reached epic proportions, the father of three decided to take matters into his own hands by addressing Chad’s alleged “roid rage” in front of JoJo (and an entire auditorium of people). A move that Evan quickly paid for: After stepping off stage, Chad yanked and ripped Evan’s T-shirt, and backstage Chad reached for Evan’s throat as he uttered the words: “You’re going to f—ing die if you don’t chill out.” Still, the violent threat didn't deter the 33-year-old from continuing to puff out his chest to JoJo, vowing to her that if Chad stays, he goes. The bold move earned him the group date rose, his first kiss and some clout against Chad, who had been beating up on him all day. Back at the house, the Floridian informed Chris Harrison about Chad's behavior, prompting a "To Be Continued" moment showing Chad storming back into the house, promising to "f— up this entire damn thing." While his actions are certain to stir up more drama during tomorrow night's episode, he's the main reason JoJo has started to notice the other sides to Chad — a move all the men, and viewers, can thank Evan for.

  8. 8
    26

Robert “Robby,” 27, former competitive swimmer from Jacksonville, FL

    Up from last week.

    Courtesy of ABC

Another victim of a date cardless week, Robby also expressed his concern over not spending time with JoJo this week, and confronted Chad when he was ready to throw his opportunity out the mansion window. Though Robby hasn't earned much time with the Bachelorette, he has been a key player in exposing the truth about Chad.

  9. 9
    26

Alex, 26, U.S. Marine from Oceanside, CA

    Down from last week.

    Courtesy of ABC

Alex told JoJo he’s “ride or die” tonight, and the marine has certainly put his money where his mouth is. At first, Alex got sympathy points for baring the brunt of Chad’s short-guy jokes (i.e. "Ben was 6’4". You don't go from 6'4" to 5’4”) and leading the Stop Chad Brigade by getting in his face last episode. But he's responded to Chad with aggression, making it harder to root for the Oceanside marine and his penchant for egging on the villain. When poked and prodded by Chad, Alex responded with a “try me, bro” and a “What? What? What?” before shoo-ing him away with a hand flick. (Someone needs to brush up on their comebacks.) Despite all of Alex's efforts, it's Evan who pulls the trigger and ultimately exposes Chad in front of JoJo.

  10. 10
    26

Wells, 31, radio DJ from Nashville, TN

    Down from last week.

    Courtesy of ABC

A victim of editing, Wells might have benefited from viewers getting to hear his threesome story that the host raved about, instead of witnessing only his flatulence impression. So far, Wells has earned points from JoJo by being the underdog and tonight he continued to harp on his small size compared to the other men, giving props to Evan for taking aim at the bigger Chad during the group challenge. For the most part, this one's sticking to the sidelines.

  11. 11
    26

Nick B., 33, electrical engineer, Fort Lauderdale, FL

    Up from last week.

    Courtesy of ABC

If there’s anything we learned this week, it’s that Santa has spent some time on the naughty list. The electrical engineer, who dressed up as St. Nick on Night 1, demonstrated how he gave oral sex for the first time as a 16-year-old by spelling out the letters of the alphabet with his tongue. JoJo won't be able to un-see that.

  12. 12
    26

Christian, 26, telecom consultant from Los Angeles, CA

    Down from last week.

    Courtesy of ABC

Christian and his eight-pack barely returned this week. The buff consultant must have planned his workouts around Chad’s bench-pressing schedule, unlike Evan who bravely performed squats beside his arch enemy.

  13. 13
    26

Daniel, 31, Canadian from Vancouver, B.C., Canada

    Up from last week.

    Courtesy of ABC

Daniel finally emerged from Chad's shadow and stood up to his benching, spotting and calorie-counting partner. Though he seems too immature to win JoJo in the end — during the group date, Daniel revealed that he carries a knife when he travels, cut a girl's hair during a sexual encounter and that his favorite bodily function is "poo" — he does move slightly up the ladder for finally coming into his own, and leaving Chad without an ally.

  14. 14
    26

Ali, 27, bartender from Santa Monica, CA

    Down from last week.

    Courtesy of ABC

Joining Wells on the sidelines is the Santa Monica bartender, who had another episode without any action. "As we're like, making out I feel her mustache," was his longest sentence of the night.

  15. 15
    26

Vincent “Vinny,” 28, barber from Delray Beach, FL

    Up from last week.

    Courtesy of ABC

Vinny continued to live up to his frat-boy reputation with his group date story and impression of his mother walking in on him (though, it was funny).

  16. 16
    26

James F., 34, boxing club owner from Nashville, TN

    Down from last week.

    Courtesy of ABC

The boxing club owner, who hasn't gotten much time with JoJo, almost pulled down his pants on stage. That's one way to do it?

  17. 17
    26

Chad, 28, luxury real estate agent from Tulsa, OK

    Down from last week.

    Courtesy of ABC

Alex put it best when he said: "Chad wrote a beautiful disaster story." Last week, there were faint feelings of Chad possibly having a softer side, but it was fleeting as tonight's antics wiped away any previous moments of redemption. With every ticking second, Chad grew more heated and aggressive, ultimately — to borrow an earlier word — combusting in an angergasm. He threatened multiple acts of violence and established several Bachelor firsts — though he isn't the first contestant to get a talking to from Chris Harrison, he is the first to scare his housemates into calling in protection from a 24-7 security guard. He's also the first to be compared to Hitler. When explaining why he could no longer support his friend, this is the exchange that occurred between Daniel and Chad: "Daniel: Let's just pretend you're Hitler ... Chad: Let's not pretend I'm Hitler ... Daniel: Well let's just say it ... Chad: Let's not say it ...  Daniel: Well say you're Donald Trump, if I hang out with you, it doesn't make me look so good." Tomorrow's episode will tell how much longer JoJo can remain in the dark, as this ticking time bomb is primed to combust.

  18. 18
    26

James S., 27, 'Bachelor' superfan from Phoenix, AZ

    Eliminated Week 2.

    Craig Sjodin/ABC

At least the Bachelor superfan can add this to his résumé: "I wasn't the first person to get kicked off my season of The Bachelorette."

  19. 19
    26

William “Will,” 26, civil engineer from Jersey City, NJ

    Eliminated Week 2.

    Craig Sjodin/ABC

Will made a last-ditch effort by having some fun with JoJo and encouraging her to T.P. the Bachelor mansion with toilet paper, but the moment of mischief and his other gags weren't enough to save him from going home.

  20. 20
    26

Brandon, 28, hipster from Los Angeles, CA

    Eliminated Week 2.

    Craig Sjodin/ABC

We initially saw promise in the hipster, agreeing that he is super chill and can't possibly be there for the wrong reasons. But after the aggressive showdown between his competitors on the group date and during the rose ceremony, it became clear he wouldn't be able to stand out in this pack.

  21. 21
    26

Jonathan, 29, technical sales representative from Vancouver, B.C., Canada

    Eliminated Week 1.

    Craig Sjodin/ABC

Poor Jonathan, who fell for the producers' entrance-making advice. Arriving in a kilt due to his half-Scottish heritage was fine, but telling JoJo he wasn't wearing any underwear underneath was a fateful fail.

  22. 22
    26

Peter, 26, staffing agency manager from Chicago, IL

    Eliminated Week 1.

    Craig Sjodin/ABC

Peter seemed genuinely bowled over by his elimination, despite viewers at home never seeing him and JoJo interact.

  23. 23
    26

Jake, 26, landscape architect from Playa Vista, CA

    Eliminated Week 1.

    Craig Sjodin/ABC

A lack of airtime made it hard to weigh in, so we defer to JoJo on this one.

  24. 24
    26

Colin “Coley,” 27, real estate consultant from Chicago, IL

    Eliminated Week 1.

    Craig Sjodin/ABC

Coley got more airtime during the rose ceremony than he did all episode, but we barely heard him speak.

  25. 25
    26

Nick S., 26, software salesman from San Francisco, CA

    Eliminated Week 1.

    Craig Sjodin/ABC

Ascot-wearing headshot aside, Nick S. more than deserved to be sent home after being the first to drunkenly barge in on JoJo during her on-camera interview. But thank you for the entertainment, and for giving us a peek inside the secret interview room!

  26. 26
    26

Sal, 28, operations manager from Fort Lauderdale, FL

    Eliminated Week 1.

    Craig Sjodin/ABC

When Sal introduced himself to JoJo he brought her a gift: blue balls. About the stress balls: "If at any point you feel stressed, I give you permission to squeeze my balls." Total camera time after his intro: negligible.
