The Biggest Emmy Snubs From the 2016 Nominations

THR takes a look at who failed to make the cut for the 68th annual Emmy awards.

The nominations for the 2016 Primetime Emmy awards were announced Thursday morning and while many had reason to celebrate, not everyone was quite so lucky.

Below, The Hollywood Reporter rounds up some of the most surprising shows, actors and other TV talent who failed to get a nomination.

The 68th annual Primetime Emmy Awards will broadcast live at 5 p.m. PT Sunday, Sept. 18 on ABC.

  • Drama Series

    Michelle Faye/A+E Networks

    • Billions, Showtime's first-year Wall Street series, failed to get a nomination for best drama series.

    UnREAL failed to secure a nomination for best drama series.

    Orange Is the New Black failed to get a nomination for best drama series. 

  • Lead Actor in a Drama Series

    JoJo Whilden/Showtime

    • Damian Lewis was shut out of the best drama actor category for Billions.

    • Paul Giamatti was not nominated for his work on the first season of Billions.

  • Lead Actress in a Drama Series

    • Julianna Margulies, who previously won twice for her lead role on The Good Wife, failed to score a nomination for the show's final season.

    • Michelle Dockery failed to receive a nomination for best leading actress in a drama for the final season of Downton Abbey.

  • Supporting Actor in a Drama Series

    David Giesbrecht/USA Networ

    • Christian Slater, who won a Golden Globe for his role in Mr. Robot, was not included in the supporting actor category.

    • Alan Cumming also failed to receive a nomination for the final season of The Good Wife.

    • Patrick Wilson failed to score a nomination for his work on season two of Fargo.

  • Supporting Actress in a Drama Series

    Netflix

    • Uzo Aduba, another previous winner, was not nominated for her role in Orange Is the New Black.

    • Christine Baranski was shut out of the supporting actress in a drama category for the last season of The Good Wife.

  • Lead Actor in a Comedy Series

    • Jim Parsons, a previous Emmy winner for The Big Bang Theory, was shut out.

  • Lead Actress in a Comedy Series

    The CW

    • Rachel Bloom, who won a Golden Globe in January for her role in Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, was left out of the outstanding actress in a comedy series category.

  • Supporting Actor in a Comedy

    • Eric Stonestreet, a previous winner for Modern Family, was shut out of the best supporting actor in a comedy category.

  • Supporting Actress in a Comedy

    Netflix

    • Jane Krakowski was shut out of the best supporting actress in a comedy category for season two of Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt.

  • Variety Talk Series

    Brad Barket/Comedy Central

    The Daily Show, which swept the Emmys for years, failed to secure a nomination for outstanding talk show.

    • Stephen Colbert, a previous winner, did not receive a nomination for his new CBS show, The Late Show With Stephen Colbert.

    Full Frontal With Samantha Bee was shut out of the variety talk series category.

  • Outstanding Limited Series

    American Horror Story failed to score a nomination for season five.
