The latest installment hits theaters April 12.

The Fast and the Furious franchise has brought fast cars and massive explosions to the big screen for 16 years.

The hit film series kicked off by following the street-racing adventures of Los Angeles cop Brian O’Connor (the late Paul Walker), after he enters the car-racing scene and meets Dominic Toretto (Vin Diesel). Each movie has seen its share of box-office success, becoming Universal’s biggest franchise of all time with a nearly $3.9 billion total haul from all seven films combined.

The eighth movie, The Fate of the Furious, is set to hit theaters April 14 — with Charlize Theron joining the action — and a ninth and 10th movie have been confirmed, taking the franchise all the way to 2021.

Ahead of the new film hitting theaters, The Hollywood Reporter takes a look at all of the past trailers for the movies in the franchise.

  • The Fast and the Furious

    2001

The first film centered on an undercover cop, Brian O’Connor (Walker), who is tasked with stopping car hijackers but gets caught up in the world of racing. After falling in love with the suspect, Dominic Toretto’s (Diesel) sister (Jordana Brewster), O’Connor must chose between the street crew and the LAPD (amid car chased galore).

  • 2 Fast 2 Furious

    2003

In the first sequel, O'Connor, now a former cop, must team up with an old friend, Roman Pearce (Tyrese Gibson), to bring down a Miami-based drug lord. The 2003 film brought Tyrese and Ludacris into the Fast and Furious family, also briefly introducing Eva Mendes, who also briefly appears in Fast Five

  • The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift

    2006

Paul Walker did not appear in this Japan-set film, which instead featured a new cast comprised of Lucas Black, Nathalie Kelley, Sung Kang, Bow Wow and Brian Tee. The story line finds Sean Boswell (Black) moving to Tokyo to avoid a jail sentence but finding his way into the drift-racing world, as everyone discovers what "drifting" is.

  • Fast & Furious

    2009

In this similarly named follow-up, Fast & Furious sees Brian O’Connor working as an FBI agent once again but teams up with Dominic Toretto to take down a common enemy. The two must work together to outmaneuver a drug importer — using new and exotic cars, of course.

  • Fast Five

    2011

Brian O’Connor and Dominic Toretto team up once again, in a growing car-obsessed family, to gain their freedom by heading to Rio de Janeiro. The fifth installment sees Dwayne Johnson (Luke Hobbs) join the crew, this time as an agent tasked with tracking down Toretto and his group, until he ends up on the other side after owing Toretto a favor.

  • Fast & Furious 6

    2013

Brian O’Connor and Dominic Toretto reunite the racing crew in London to take down a crew of missionaries led by Luke Evans after Hobbs (Dwayne Johnson) enlists their help, with the added enticement of finding Letty, who has gone to the enemy's side after getting amnesia.

  • Furious 7

    2015

International terrorist Owen Shaw’s (Luke Evans) brother (Jason Statham) is back for revenge in the seventh installment, which ups the ante in the franchise's stunts, dropping cars out of planes and jumping a car through multiple skyscrapers in Dubai. Toretto and O’Connor protect their crew while saving a computer program called “God’s Eye” for the United States government.

  • The Fate of the Furious

    2016

The newest film, out April 14, finds the crew trying to retire from the car scene to live normal lives. However, Dominic Toretto seems to cross his "family" to work with a mysterious woman (Charlize Theron). The whole crew, including former villain Jason Statham, team up to bring him back into the fold.
