The Cuban-American telenovela actor and singer started at age 12 as the lead singer of Boom Boom Pop. Twelve years later, Canela’s “Suena” (“Dream”), in collaboration with Emilio Estefan, was featured in Telemundo’s coverage of the London Olympics and will serve as the official song for Miss America next year. Canela, 24, has appeared in numerous Telemundo productions including Mi Corazon Insiste (My Heart Insists), Pecados Ajenos (Sins) and, in 2011, Mas Sabe el Diablo (The Devil Knows Best), which drew more than 1 million viewers a night.
