THR's Women in Entertainment 2012: Power 100
Gibbons, 52, helped steer FX to its first-ever major Emmy haul: American Horror Story got a whopping 17 Emmy nominations and took home two statuettes, including one for actress Jessica Lange. (Louis CK also nabbed an Emmy for his FX comedy.) While the second installment of the horror anthology this fall has enjoyed less dramatic ratings, FX's Sons of Anarchy has hit a rare ratings and popularity high for a series in its fifth season.
Who gave me my first big break: Len Fogge -- now president of marketing for NBC -- was then the executive vp of marketing at Showtime. I was hesitant to leave the NBC affiliate in Tampa and go to New York to work for Showtime. He flew down to Florida, took me to lunch and basically asked me if I had recently sustained a brain injury. I resigned two days later.
Toughest decision I had to make this year: How to best help and support my aunt when my uncle was facing a terminal health crisis.
When I leave work each day, I can't wait to: Eat a stick of butter.
Favorite way to unwind on the weekend: Sleep in, then lie motionless in bed focusing on shallow breathing. If my dogs know I'm awake, they walk on my head until I take them out.
Can't get through my workday without: Having someone at the network offer to take me shopping so I'll stop wearing mom jeans.
Totally starstruck around: Kind people.
Embarrassed to admit I watch: Who the (Bleep) Did I Marry on Discovery ID. I love folding my laundry while some woman discovers her husband is stealing moon rocks from NASA.
