'1600 Penn' Elects Stacy Keach for Guest Role (Exclusive)
NBC's midseason political comedy 1600 Penn is adding to the White House.
Lights Out alum Stacy Keach has been tapped to guest star on the series about an ordinary family whose father just so happens to be the president of the United States, The Hollywood Reporter has learned exclusively.
Bill Pullman stars as the president in the comedy from former Obama speechwriter Jon Lovett and Book of Mormon star Josh Gad, who plays the president's lovable idiot son Skip Gilchrist.
Keach will play Senator Thoroughgood, a wheelchair-bound, racist, sexist, bigoted senator who is being honored for 50 years of service in the Senate. In the episode, which will air early in the series' run, President Gilchrist and the first lady (Jenna Elfman) try to convince Thoroughgood to change his vote for an education bill they're trying to get passed.
In addition to his role on FX's critically praised but short-lived Lights Out, his credits include The Bourne Legacy, Prison Break and the miniseries Hemingway, which earned him an Emmy nomination and Golden Globe win. He's repped by Diamond Management and Binder & Associates.
1600 Penn premieres midseason on NBC.
