'Sons of Tucson's' Benjamin Stockham Cast on NBC's '1600 Penn' (Exclusive)
The child actor will play the First Family's youngest son, Xander, on the comedy pilot.
NBC’s First Family has found its young rebel.
The Hollywood Reporter has learned that Benjamin Stockham has been cast as Xander, President Dale Gilchrist’s (Bill Pullman) youngest son, on the 1600 Penn pilot. If the comedy project is picked up, Stockham will be a series regular. Little Xander is described as rebellious and always looking for ways to undermine authority.
The Modern Family-like project follows widower President Gilchrist and his second wife, Emily Nash Gilchrist (Jenna Elfman), as they try to manage his job leading the free world with their complicated family dynamics where all the kids are from perfect.
The cast also includes Brittany Snow, Amara Miller, Josh Gad and Andre Holland.
Gad, Modern Family director Jason Winer and former Barack Obama speechwriter Jonathan Lovett are attached as writers and executive producers on the project. Winer also will direct the pilot from 20th Century Fox Television.
Stockham’s portrayal of Robby Gunderson in Fox’s short-lived 2010 comedy Sons of Tucson earned him a Young Artist Award and a Youth Rocks Award nomination. He has also appeared on Rizzoli & Isles, CSI: NY, and Criminal Minds. Additionally, he stars in the upcoming films Simon Says and Saving Santa.
He is repped by Paradigm, Strong Management and Morris Yorn Barnes Levine Krintzman Rubenstein & Kohner.
