'A to Z' Creator, 'Inside Out' Scribe Sell Mom Comedy to NBC
Mom's the word on NBC.
The network has bought an ensemble comedy about a working mom from A to Z creator Ben Queen and Inside Out screenwriter Meg LeFauve, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.
The half-hour, single-camera script centers on a mom who attempts to get over her need to be the perfect parent by banging together with her friends to admit — and even celebrate — the messy reality of parenting. The group of friends share their daily mistakes, deepening their bonds, while their kids manage to survive and even thrive.
Queen will exec produce with writer LeFauve, and writers Lorien McKenna (Up, Brave) and Christine Whitaker (Snow Dogs) will co-executive produce. Warner Bros. Television will produce.
The script development deal makes this Queen's second project at NBC this season, joining his DC Comics workplace comedy Powerless, which landed a pilot production commitment in August. His other credits include Cars 2 and the Fox series Drive. He is repped by UTA, Chad Snopek Management and Sloane Offer.
In addition to her summer smash, LeFauve's other credits include the upcoming releases The Good Dinosaur and Captain Marvel. She is repped by Verve, Zaftig Films and Morris Yorn.
