Aaron Tveit isn't wasting time booking his next TV gig.

Weeks after his USA drama Graceland was canceled, the actor is set to star in CBS' sci-fi drama BrainDead, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed.

From The Good Wife creators Robert and Michelle King, the comic thriller centers on brain-eating aliens who attack Washington, D.C.

Tveit will play Gareth, a Republican operative who serves as the legislative director to a top Republican senator. Smart and hardworking, Gareth is ultimately responsible for saving the world.

The actor will star opposite Mary Elizabeth Winstead in the series, which is slated to premiere next summer as part of the network's genre-heavy slate that also includes returning drama Zoo and the new murder-mystery series American Gothic.

“We’re thrilled that Aaron will be joining BrainDead,” said Robert and Michelle King in a statement. “We’re huge fans of his work — he's spectacular onstage and screen — and think he’ll be a fantastic opponent-slash-love-interest for Mary Elizabeth Winstead.”

CBS TV Studios will produce the series, which is also exec produced by Ridley Scott, David W. Zucker, Brooke Kennedy and Liz Glotzer.

The casting reunites Tveit with the Kings. The theater actor, known for his Broadway work on Next to Normal and Catch Me If You Can, guest-starred on a 2011 episode of The Good Wife. His other credits include Les Miserables, Gossip Girl and Fox's upcoming Grease: Live production, in which he will play Danny Zuko. He is repped by CAA and Elin Flack Management.
