ABC Family is expanding its comedy roster.

The network has greenlighted the half-hour, single-camera workplace comedy Kevin From Work to series. The show centers on Kevin (Noah Reid), a young man who declares his unrequited love for his co-worker Audrey (Paige Spara) in a letter, believing he’ll never see her again after he accepts a job overseas. But when the opportunity falls through and Kevin is forced to return to his old job, he and Audrey have to continue to work together with his feelings no longer secret.

The cast also includes Matt Murray (Rookie Blue) as Brian, Jordan Hinson (Eureka) as Roxie, Punam Patel as Patti, and guest star Amy Sedaris (Strangers With Candy) as Julia. Production will begin in June, with the series set to premiere later this summer.

“Single camera represents the evolution of our comedy brand,“ said Karey Burke, ABC Family executive vp programming and development. “Kevin From Work is an endearingly awkward love story — this time from the guy's point of view.”

Written, created and executive produced by Barbie Adler, whose credits include How I Met Your Mother, My Name Is Earl and Arrested Development, the comedy will be executive produced by Aaron Kaplan via his Kapital Entertainment (Chasing Life, The Mysteries of Laura) and McG via his Wonderland Sound & Vision (Charlie’s Angels, The O.C.). McG also directed the pilot and will direct several more episodes of the series.
