Samm Levine, Sunkrish Bala and "Grey's Anatomy's" Chelsea Harris have joined the drama from "American Pie 2's" David H. Steinberg.
Three more have signed up for ABC Family's Phys Ed.
Freaks and Geeks alum Samm Levine, Shameless' Sunkrish Bala and Grey's Anatomy guest star Chelsea Harris have joined the network's multicamera comedy pilot from American Pie 2's David H. Steinberg, The Hollywood Reporter has learned exclusively.
Phys Ed, picked up to pilot in September, revolves around Ed (Wildfire's Ryan Sypek), a high school's star jock who returns to teach at his former alma mater only to find that even though he's changed, nothing else really has.
Kate Lang Johnson will play Janie, a teacher at the school that Ed ignored during their high school years together who is now the object of his affections.
Levine will play Matt Nealy, a nerdy and needy chemistry teacher and a bit of a gossip who makes quick friends with Ed. Bala will play Alan Rapaport, an English teacher who likes being the alpha male at the school and feels an overpowering urge to put Ed in his place, as if they were both still in high school. Harris will play Wendy Kleinman, the hot history teacher and cheerleading coach who is rumored to be having an affair with Alan.
Steinberg wrote and executive produced the pilot, which hails from Prodco.
Levine is repped by TalentWorks and Cohn/Torgan; Bala is with Laura Pallas and Greene & Associates; and Harris is with Green & Associates and manager Justine Hunt.
