The show, which hails from Bachelor creator/executive producer Mike Fleiss and production company Warner Horizon TV, has been given a six-episode order.

ABC says the show, debuting in the summer, will "feature new twists, shocking surprises, unexpected guests and some of the most unlikely relationships in Bachelor history, plus all the usual romance, drama and tears we've come to expect from the Bachelor franchise."

The show, which will be hosted by Bachelor/Bachelorette host Chris Harrison, also will feature a rose ceremony, but further details weren't available.

Harrison and Fleiss tweeted about the show on Friday:

ABC previously aired another spinoff, Bachelor Pad, as a summer series in 2010, 2011 and 2012. That show also featured Bachelor/Bachelorette alums living together as they also developed romantic relationship and competed for a $250,000 cash prize.

Fleiss announced in March 2013 that the show would not be returning that summer.

Asked on Twitter whether Bachelor in Paradise will be like Bachelor Pad, Harrison responded:

The most recent season of The Bachelor found controversial star Juan Pablo Galavis selecting Nikki Ferrell as his final choice -- but choosing not to propose (or even say whether he loves her on national TV, which angered many fans).

Andi Dorfman, who broke up with Galavis before the season ended, was chosen as the newest Bachelorette and is currently shooting her season, which will debut at 9-11 p.m. on Monday, May 19.
