ABC is expanding the Shark Tank world.

The network on Wednesday announced it has picked up spinoff Beyond the Tank, a companion series that examines what happens after the start-ups are launched.

Beyond the Tank will follow the next stage of a start-up, in which the products created on Shark Tank find their way to market and either succeed or flop. The network has picked up 10 hourlong episodes.

Like the original, Beyond the Tank hails from Sony Pictures Television and Mark Burnett's One Three Media as well as United Artists Media Group.

After being bounced around ABC's schedule, Shark Tank found a fit on Fridays and has regularly won the night. The series, which returns Sept. 26, will celebrate its 100th episode during its sixth season. Season five averaged 7.2 million total viewers and regularly topped the broadcast competition among the key adults 18-49 demographic. The series also landed a syndication deal last year on CNBC.

Beyond the Tank will feature former Shark Tank participants who served as business leaders on the flagship series. The show will provide updates on how businesses created on Shark Tank have fared as well as examine how effective the businesses are with the sharks who backed them.

A premiere date for Beyond the Tank has not yet been determined.

For ABC, Beyond the Tank joins a roster of unscripted fare that includes Dancing With the Stars, The Bachelor, Bachelor in Paradise and America's Funniest Home Videos, and arrives as broadcast networks have struggled to launch new reality formats.
