ABC is staying in business with Castle duo Laurie Zaks and Moira Kirland.

The network has picked up the pitch The Murder Season, an hourlong drama penned by Castle scribe Kirland.

The ABC Sudios project revolves around Mia Donnelly, a gifted but troubled FBI profiler who struggles to hide a dark secret from her past as she works with an elite team to catch the country’s worst criminals.

Kirland will executive produce alongside Zaks, who serves in the same capacity on ABC’s Castle.

Kirland has been a consulting producer, co-EP and writer on the Nathan Fillion starrer since 2009. Her credits also include Medium, Stephen King’s Dead Zone and Dark Angel.

Zaks has been an EP on Castle since its 2009 launch. Her credits also include serving as an executive in charge of talent on Saturday Night Live.

Murder Season marks the second ABC Studios project this development season Zaks is attached to. The Lockharts, an hourlong musical drama set in the 1970s from Make It Or Break It scribes Michael Gans and Richard Register, is also set up at ABC.
