ABC's 'Lucky 7' Books 'The Butler' Actor for Recurring Role (Exclusive)
Stephen Rider will join the freshman lottery drama as an attorney.
ABC's upcoming lottery drama Lucky 7 has enlisted some legal help.
The Butler's Stephen Rider has joined the freshman series from executive producer David Zabel, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.
An adaptation of British drama The Syndicate, the drama revolves around seven employees of a service station in Queens whose lives are changed in unexpected ways when they win a lottery jackpot.
Rider will recur as Eric Mosely, a charming and handsome Yale-educated attorney who takes on Leanne's (Anastasia Phillips) custody case -- and maybe more. He'll first appear in the sixth episode of the series.
Rider most recently co-starred in Lee Daniels' The Butler and Andrew Niccol's The Host. The actor was first discovered by Denzel Washington, who saw him in play in 2006 and cast him in The Great Debaters. He'll next be seen in Matthew Thompson's military thriller Event 15 opposite Jennifer Morrison and Josh Stewart.
Repped by WME, One Entertainment and Felker Toczek, his TV credits include an episode of NCIS: LA.
Lucky 7, co-starring Stephen Louis Grush, Isiah Whitlock Jr., Summer Bishil, Christine Evangelista, Lorraine Bruce and Luis Antonio Ramos, premieres Tuesday, Sept. 24 at 10 p.m.
