'Storage Wars' Becomes A&E's Most Watched Series Telecast of All Time

The network on Thursday picked up each unscripted effort for 26-episode seasons, with each set to return in the summer.

"America is at a crossroads where people are finding new ways to make money and earn a living,” A&E Network/BIO Channel executive vp programming David McKillop said in a statement announcing the news. "We’re holding a mirror up to this trend in our programming and it’s proven to be incredibly relatable to our viewers yet remain highly entertaining.”

Storage Wars, airing Tuesdays at 10 p.m., ranks as cable's No. 3 series in the adults 25-54 demographic, topping MTV's pop culture phenomenon Jersey Shore. Storage Wars also ranks as A&E's No. 1 series of all time. It's second-season premiere ranks as the network's most-watched telecast among the advertiser-coveted adults 18-49 demo (2.9 million) as well as its most-watched series telecast of all time (5.1 million total viewers).

Spinoff Storage Wars: Texas will return for a second season after its December premiere opened to 4.1 million total viewers and 2.1 million in the adults 25-54 demo, averaging 3.8 million viewers for first-run airings.

For its part, Shipping Wars debuted to 3 million total viewers in January and ranks as the network's second-most-watched new show of the year behind only Storage Wars: Texas.

Storage Wars and its Texas spinoff are produced by Original Productions; Shipping Wars hails from Megalomedia.
