CBS is adding cops and lawyers to its drama pilot offerings.

The network has picked up two drama pilots — Alan Cumming starrer Killer Instinct as well as Perfect Citizen, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.

Killer Instinct (formerly known as Dr. Death) stars Cumming in the adaptation of James Patterson's forthcoming novel as a former CIA operative who has since built a "normal" life as a gifted professor and writer who is pulled back into his old life when the NYPD needs his help to stop a serial killer on the loose.

Michael Rauch (Royal Pains) will pen the script and executive produce alongside Cumming, Patterson, Alex Kurtzman and his CBS Television Studios-based Secret Hideout topper Heather Kadin. Bill Robinson and Leopoldo Gout also are on board as exec producers. The drama, put in development in September, reteams the network with former Good Wife star Cumming. It also marks the latest collaboration for the network with Patterson, who is under an overall deal with CBSTVS, and joins summer drama Zoo.

Kurtzman, meanwhile, is also attached as an executive producer on CBS All Access' Star Trek: Discovery (which is also produced by CBSTVS). He continues to be an exec producer on CBS' Hawaii Five-0 and Scorpion and Fox's Sleepy Hollow.

Perfect Citizen, meanwhile, also reteams the network and studio with Craig Turk, a former attorney turned Good Wife executive producer. The drama revolves around the former General Counsel for the NSA who, after his involvement as a whistleblower in an international scandal, embarks on a new career at a storied law firm in Boston. There, he faces the reality that while half the country thinks he's our greatest patriot, the other half thinks he's a traitor. Turk will pen the script and exec produce for CBS Television Studios, where his Thinking Hat Productions is under an overall deal.

Killer Instinct and Perfect Citizen bring CBS' drama pilot haul to three so far this season. They join NASA drama Mission Control, from The Martian's Andy Weir. All three are produced in-house by CBS Television Studios.
