Discovery's 'American Chopper' Ending Run
The docuseries centered on the Teutels will wrap in December with the "Chopper Live" special.
Discovery Channel is closing the door on American Chopper.
The long-running docuseries revolving around Paul Teutel Sr. (aka Senior) and his son Junior will end its run when it airs the second part of Chopper Live: The Revenge, a bike build-off special, on Dec. 11, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed. It will mark the end of the Teutels' decade-long run on television.
“After 10 years and 233 episodes of incredible, riveting reality television, American Chopper will be ending its run on Dec. 11,” said Eileen O’Neill, group president of Discovery and TLC Networks. “This series was one of the very first family-based reality programs on television. Special thanks to Pilgrim Studios for over a decade of great producing. The Teutels have given us really innovative bike builds and real drama since 2002. We wish both Orange County Choppers and Paul Junior Designs the best and look forward to capping off this amazing run with our live special Chopper Live: The Revenge.”
At the start of the series, American Chopper followed the Teutels and their custom-motorcycle shop Orange County Choppers and during its run has called TLC and Discovery home and changed names. At one point, the series was called American Chopper: Senior vs. Junior, highlighting the tumultuous relationship between the Teutels. In early 2010, American Chopper was axed by TLC only to be revived later that year.
Chopper Live: The Revenge, with special guest Jesse James, will air from Las Vegas on Dec. 10 and 11.
EW first reported the news.
