'America's Got Talent' Moves to New York for Season 8
The NBC reality competition series will broadcast from Radio City Music Hall.
America's Got Talent is moving to a new location.
After broadcasting from Newark's New Jersey Performing Arts Center for the live portion of season seven, the NBC reality competition series -- premiering 9-11 p.m. June 4 -- is heading to New York City's Radio City Music Hall for season eight. NBC says that the move was made for creative reasons, with the New York tax credit also a factor.
America's Got Talent will air live from the Radio City Music Hall twice a week when live episodes begin 9-11 p.m. July 23 and 8-9 p.m. July 24. The one-hour Wednesday episodes will begin July 10.
New judges Heidi Klum and Spice Girl member Mel B will join Howard Stern and Howie Mandel for the new season.
“There are few entertainment shrines in the world that are as venerated as Radio City Music Hall,” said Paul Telegdy, president of alternative and late night programming, NBC Entertainment, in a statement. “Many of America’s greatest performers have graced this legendary stage, and now AGT will have the rare opportunity to discover greatness in this renowned venue. This move -- coupled with the addition of Mel B and Heidi Klum joining our judges’ panel of Howie Mandel and Howard Stern -- takes the show to a new and even more exciting level.”
“We are delighted that season eight of America’s Got Talent will come from New York’s iconic Radio City Music Hall," said executive producer Trish Kinane. "This venue has welcomed some of the best acts in the world, and AGT will continue in that tradition by bringing exciting new performers to this legendary stage.”
