Anna Camp to Star in 'Awkward' Creator's ABC Comedy
"The Mindy Project" alum will topline Lauren Iungerich's "Damaged Goods."
Anna Camp is headed back to primetime.
The actress, who has recurred on The Mindy Project and True Blood, has been tapped to star in ABC's Lauren Iungerich comedy pilot Damaged Goods, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.
The Awkward creator will pen the project and executive produce the comedy about the sexual politics that have changed between men and women in the post-feminist era. Camp will star as Nicole, a smart and successful attorney who is totally bewildered and betrayed when her boyfriend Tim (Smallville's Justin Hartley) tells her that he can’t be happy for her or continue to date if she takes the promotion she was offered at the law firm where they both work -- the promotion he expected to get.
Camp joins a cast that also includes Steve Talley, Ben Lawson and Kellee Stewart in the single-camera comedy from Warner Bros. Television. Declan Lowney will co-exec produce and direct the pilot.
For Camp, the casting comes more than a year after the actress was downgraded from her series regular role on Fox's The Mindy Project. More recently, she reprised her role as Sarah Newlin on HBO's True Blood and reunited with Pitch Perfect's Skylar Astin in his TBS comedy Ground Floor. Her credits include How I Met Your Mother and The Help. She's repped by UTA, Authentic Talent and Schreck Rose.
