Anne Heche is returning to NBC.

The actress has been tapped to star opposite Mike Vogel in the network's military drama pilot For God and Country, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.

The project is described as a heart-pounding look into the complex world of the country's bravest military heroes who make personal sacrifices while executing the most challenging and dangerous missions behind enemy lines.

Heche will star as Patricia, the head of operations for the Defense Intelligence Agency. The character commands the respect of someone who holds such a
high-pressured position.

The casting marks a return to NBC for Heche, who previously starred on the network's Save Me and produced Bad Judge as well as had an arc on The Michael J. Fox Show. Her credits also include Dig, Hung and features including Wag the Dog. She is repped by Paradigm, Untitled Entertainment and Morris Yorn.

Under the Dome grad Vogel toplines For God and Country as Michael Dalton, the commander of the ISA-special operations group who is responsible for getting back a kidnapped American doctor. The character will do whatever it takes to make sure no foreign nation gets away with harming Americans. The project's theme hits close to home for Vogel as both of his grandfathers fought in World War II.

Feature scribe Dean Georgaris is set to pen the script and executive produce the Universal Television drama alongside Keshet's Avi Nir, Peter Graugott and Rachel Kaplan.
