This season's The Bachelorette premiere is doubling the drama.

In a first for the venerable ABC dating series, two castoffs from the previous installment of The BachelorKaitlyn Bristowe and Britt Nilsson — will be competing for the votes of the 25 eligible men to become season 11's star.

Bristowe and Nilsson spoke to reporters during a press conference to preview the season, with Bristowe acknowledging that the twist wasn't exactly welcome.

"It was definitely unexpected, and I was shocked," Bristowe said of the news that she and Nilsson would be competing with each other. "I was kind of just beside myself because I didn't know what to think. I wasn't excited about it, but I just really had to take a step back and think of the light at the end of the tunnel."

Nilsson said she and Bristowe were able to support each other throughout the process and "laugh about it," which helped to "tame down the awkwardness." She continued: "It's just a wild situation. It was wild. It was fun, but yes, there were awkward moments, of course."

Bristowe explained that she wanted to believe that most of the guys were there to meet her, but she wasn't sure if that was the case. She also pointed out that she and Nilsson had different approaches to meeting the men in the mansion. "I think I was a little more hesitant or uncomfortable," she said. "And I think Britt thought [of it] more of like an incredible opportunity, which I did, too. But [I was] just a little more uncomfortable."

Although neither would reveal which of them emerged victorious, both said they were content with how things turned out. "I'm very happy," Nilsson said, who admitted to having hit it off with "several" guys right away. Added Bristowe: "I think it went the way it should."

The Bachelorette's two-part season-11 premiere begins Monday at 8 p.m. on ABC. Let us know in the comments if you'd rather see Bristowe or Nilsson as the Bachelorette!
