'The Big C' Gets Third Season from Showtime
"We're excited to keep going for as long as Cathy can keep going," showrunner Jenny Bicks tells THR.
Showtime has picked up cancer dramedy The Big C for a third season.
Starring best actress Emmy nominee Laura Linney, production on 10 new episodes of the series written and created by Darlene Hunt will begin next year with a premiere set for the second quarter of 2012.
“We love working together and we're excited to keep exploring where Cathy's going,” showrunner Jenny Bicks told The Hollywood Reporter. “We've all become, as many shows do, we've all become a family, and it's a terrific place to be so we're excited to keep going for as long as Cathy can keep going.”
The series, which revolves around Linney's Cathy Jamison, a woman who tries to find the light side of life after being diagnosed with terminal cancer.

John Benjamin Hickey, Oliver Platt and Gabriel Basso star in the comedy, with Alan Alda, Hugh Dancey and Parker Posey joining Gabourey Sidibe as guest stars this season.
The series, from Sony Pictures Television, will wrap its second season Monday, Sept. 26 on Showtime.
