The "American Beauty" star played slain actress Elizabeth Short on the latest episode of FX’s "American Horror Story."
Now that her guest spot on American Horror Story has aired, Mena Suvari is sharing a behind the scenes photos of herself in character as the Black Dahlia.
Suvari appeared as actress Elizabeth Short on Wednesday's "Spooky Little Girl" episode of the FX drama, sharing scenes with Sports Night's Joshua Molina, who played a dentist who raped her as payment for his services.
In addition, Alexandra Breckenridge's young Moira attempted to seduce Ben (Dylan McDermott) again by making out with Suvari's Short.
The American Beauty actress posted the first snapshot of herself as Short on her Facebook page under the heading "Waiting to go on set."
Suvari photographed herself using a smart phone and a mirror, and wears a white robe. She's in her trailer on the show's set and sports the red lips, red fingernail polish closely associated with the Black Dahlia, aka slain actress Elizabeth Short.
Short, a 22-year-old aspiring actress, was gruesomely murdered in Los Angeles in 1947. She achieved fame posthumously when her story was sensationalized by the media, and she was dubbed the Black Dahlia. The case was never solved.
A neo-noir novel, The Black Dahlia by James Ellroy, was published in 1987 and was made into a 2006 movie directed by Brian De Palma.
Suvari noted on her Twitter account that more pictures from her American Horror Story stint would be forthcoming, "Now that my Ep on American Horror Story FX has aired, I can post some of the pics I've been wanting to share with you all!"
