Bob Odenkirk, David Cross Joke About 'Breaking Bad' Ending (Video)
Wanna know how Breaking Bad will end? Can't call Saul.
Not even Bob Odenkirk, who plays Walter White's unscrupulous lawyer, Saul Goodman, on the AMC hit, knows how the series will end.
Appearing on Wednesday's The Daily Show, Odenkirk said he didn't even read Breaking Bad's final script.
"I'm a fan of the show, too," he explained. "They sent me the script, and I go, 'I'm not reading this. Don't give this to me.' "
Odenkirk also said he didn't want to have to be able to keep the ending a secret from the legions of rabid fans desperate to know how the beloved series wraps up.
"I don't want to carry that around with me," he said. "The burden of looking into all the hungry eyes and not being able to feed them."
Before Odenkirk revealed that he'd abstained from learning about the show's ending, longtime pal David Cross, who joined him on the show to promote their new book, joked that he did know what happens.
"I cannot believe ..." he began, as the audience groaned. Luckily for the crowd, Cross then collapsed into a fit of giggles.
The Arrested Development star, who worked with Odenkirk on HBO's Mr. Show, said he got into Breaking Bad late, via binge-watching, as many people did, and "freaked out over how good it is. It's arguably the best show ever on television."
The duo reminisced about their days on Mr. Show and talked about their new book, Hollywood Said No!: Orphaned Film Scripts, Bastard Scenes, and Abandoned Darlings From the Creators of Mr. Show, containing two film scripts they wrote that studios rejected.
The series finale of Breaking Bad airs Sept. 29.
