A&E's docuseries Born This Way has another reason to celebrate.
Fresh off its Emmy win for best unstructured reality series, A&E has handed out a third season renewal, it was announced Monday.
The cabler has ordered 10 hourlong episodes of the project, which focuses on young men and women born with Down syndrome as they pursue lifelong passions, friendships and romantic relationships. Born This Way also centers on the parents of the young men and women.
The season two finale airs Tuesday at 10 p.m.
From Bunim/Murray Productions (The Real World), Born This Way is exec produced by Jonathan Murray, Gil Goldschein and Laura Korkoian, as well as Elaine Frontain Bryant, Shelly Tatro and Drew Tappon for A+E Network. Kasey Barrett is a co-executive producer
In addition to the show's Emmy win earlier this month, Born This Way was one of six honorees for the 2016 Television Academy Honors, which recognizes TV programming that inspires, informs and motivates.
"Born This Way is a shining example of what the entertainment business needs more of — powerful, thought-provoking storytelling with a greater purpose,” said A+E head of programming Frontain Bryant. “It was incredibly rewarding to see the show recognized with the Emmy Award for giving a platform to the extraordinary abilities and wisdom of the cast and their families.”
